K2 s.r.o. was founded in late 1993. For many years, the production company worked on commissions and co-productions for public television. A large part of its work consists of director Pavel Štingl's original films, cycles and exhibition projects. In 2005, the company expanded into the production of multimedia installations for museums and galleries.

The company's films are primarily in the categories of historical or cultural documentaries, artistic longitudinal films and compilation documentaries for cinemas and exhibitions. The company possesses its own film archive of wartime newsreels.
