A GHETTO NAMED BALUTY (2008)

The multimedia project "A Report from Lodz" consists of documentary films, a photographic exhibition, and professionally moderated debates. The project was created in direct connection with the documentary film A Ghetto Named Baluty – a timeless visual essay about the former Jewish ghetto in the Baluty neighborhood of Lodz (then "Litzmannstadt"). In view of the expressive nature of the setting, during filming of the documentary we invited leading Czech photographer Karel Cudlín to work with us on the project. Our film and the photographs that Cudlín shot in Lodz during 2007 each offer their own view of the contemporary face of this strange place.
